Where Chaos Lives
In order to get us all anywhere on time my mother took to setting the clock ahead. Pushing it ahead five minutes worked for a day or two, until we realized what had been done, and began compensating for it, adjusting our own internal clocks accordingly. The clock ran nearly hour ahead until someone discovered how to make it run backwards.

No clock in the house actually told us what time it was, and the main clock over the kitchen sink was a performance piece. This was the house where chaos lived, but somehow, it all made sense.
